Yushiro Chemical Industry, through its US unit, bought all of QualiChem, a Salem, Virginia maker of metalworking fluids and water treatment chemicals, for $56.5 million (¥6,317 million). Including advisory fees the cost was about $57.7 million.
Why it matters
The deal expanded Yushiro's customer base in US manufacturing beyond Japanese automakers and parts makers.
