Subaru of Indiana Automotive said it would invest $140.2 million to raise capacity at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana, by about 100,000 vehicles a year. The expansion was to add up to 1,204 jobs by 2017. It comes on top of the plant's 2013 project to build the Impreza.
Why it matters
The expansion responded to strong US demand for Subaru vehicles and raised the share of its US sales built locally.
