Nagase & Co., the Japanese chemicals trading house, agreed to buy Prinova Group, a manufacturer and distributor of nutrition ingredients for the food and wellness industries based in Carol Stream, Illinois. The price of about ¥68 billion was given in Japanese disclosures; the English release did not state it.
Why it matters
The deal expanded Nagase's food ingredients business into a large US distribution network. It was one of the larger Japanese purchases of a US food-related company in the first half of 2019.
