Mitsui O.S.K. Lines signed a strategic investment agreement with Delfin Midstream, which plans floating LNG production vessels to export US gas. An MOL representative joined Delfin's board, and MOL gained a framework to invest directly in and help build and operate the vessels. The amount was not disclosed; Delfin said the money would help it reach investment decisions on its first two vessels. About Delfin Delfin plans to moor floating LNG plants about 40 miles off the Louisiana coast, fed by existing offshore gas pipelines. In March 2025 the US Maritime Administration granted it a deepwater port license, the first approval of an offshore LNG export terminal in US history, for capacity of about 13 million tonnes a year across several vessels. MOL's role Suryan Wirya-Simunovic, MOL's executive officer for energy business in Europe, the Americas and Africa, joined Delfin's board under the 2023 deal. When Delfin took its investment decision on the first vessel, MOL invested again alongside BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners, which led the round, the trader Vitol and Diameter Capital Partners.
