Mitsui & Co. bought a 20% stake in Penske Truck Leasing Co., L.P. from GE Capital for about $750 million (¥91.0 billion). Penske Truck Leasing, based in Reading, Pennsylvania, leases and rents trucks and provides logistics services.
Why it matters
The stake gave Mitsui a share of a large US truck leasing business as GE Capital reduced its holding. It added a steady, service-based income stream to Mitsui's US portfolio.
