MGC Pure Chemicals America, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, will expand its plant in Killeen, Texas, with more than $150 million of capital investment, including about 130,000 square feet of new production space. The plant makes ultra-pure hydrogen peroxide and ammonium hydroxide used to clean semiconductor wafers. Texas Governor Greg Abbott awarded the project a $5.3 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund. About MPCA MGC Pure Chemicals America was set up in 1995. Its headquarters and main plant are in Mesa, Arizona, it has another plant in Forest Grove, Oregon, and it picked Killeen for a new plant in 2017. Mitsubishi Gas Chemical says it has the largest supply capacity in North America for these chip-cleaning chemicals. Growing with the fabs In April 2024, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical said it would add 35,000 tons a year of super-pure hydrogen peroxide capacity in Texas, with output from June 2025, because big customers building advanced fabs wanted secure supply. General manager Lee Bauer said the company aims to help Central Texas become a chipmaking cluster. The grant came from a fund set up under the 2023 Texas CHIPS Act.
