Misumi agreed to acquire Fictiv through its U.S. subsidiary, MISUMI Investment USA, by merger. Fictiv runs an online service that sources custom mechanical parts and has operations in China, India and Mexico. Misumi plans to pair it with its meviy digital parts-ordering service.
Why it matters
The deal gives Misumi a foothold in U.S. product development work, earlier in the design cycle than its core factory-equipment parts business. It also widens its customer base in its most important overseas market.
About Fictiv
Fictiv was founded in 2013 in San Francisco and is led by co-founder and chief executive Dave Evans. It works with about 250 partner factories around the world and has about 400 employees. It says it has made more than 35 million prototype and production parts, and in November 2023 it opened its own production site in Monterrey, Mexico.
The deal
Misumi paid all cash. It said the purchase would strengthen its digital services and bring it new customers. The deal closed on June 17, 2025.
