Golf Digest Online agreed to buy the SkyTrak launch monitor business through GOLFTEC, the US golf-lesson chain it bought in 2018. SkyTrak makes a camera device that measures each shot and runs simulated rounds, and is the best-selling launch monitor for ordinary golfers. GDO put the price at about ¥9.28 billion; the US announcement did not give terms. What GDO bought The SkyTrak business was split across three companies: SkyTrak in North Carolina, which handled sales; SportTrak, also in North Carolina, for product planning; and SkyHawke Technologies in Mississippi for inventory and customer management. It had sales of about ¥6.25 billion after record sales in 2021, so GDO paid about 1.5 times sales. About GOLFTEC GOLFTEC has more than 230 locations and 900 certified coaches, and in 2021 gave over 1.5 million lessons to nearly 200,000 golfers. It named industry veteran Jeff Foster as chief strategy officer and SkyTrak's chief executive. Co-founder and CEO Joe Assell said the aim was to help golfers improve with GOLFTEC anywhere, not only in its training bays.
