Fujifilm agreed to buy all shares of CMC Materials KMG, the Texas-based high-purity process chemicals business of Massachusetts chip-materials maker Entegris, for $700 million. The unit makes ultra-pure chemicals used in chip production. The deal added 12 sites, including seven manufacturing plants in the US, Europe and Singapore. Why Entegris sold Entegris got the business when it bought CMC Materials in July 2022, and it used the money from this sale to pay down debt. Chief executive Bertrand Loy said the sale helped Entegris focus on the assets with the most long-term value. The business had pro forma sales of about $360 million in 2022. What Fujifilm got The unit makes high-purity process chemicals used to etch and clean silicon wafers. It came with 593 employees. Its Singapore plant was Fujifilm's first electronic materials factory in Southeast Asia, and the deal raised Fujifilm's electronic materials manufacturing sites to 18.
